ATLANTA, Georgia— The SoundNOW Contemporary Music Festival, Atlanta’s annual celebration of contemporary classical music, marks its eighth year with an eclectic lineup of performances spanning January 27 through February 2, 2025. The festival offers a dynamic week-long celebration of contemporary music—an inspiring showcase of Atlanta’s vibrant cultural landscape featuring some of the city’s outstanding contemporary music ensembles.
The seven-night festival includes performances by twelve ensembles and artists, each bringing their unique style to the stage. Venues across Atlanta will host the events, with most concerts held at Georgia State University’s Florence Kopleff Recital Hall. Additional performances are set for Eyedrum, the Red Light Café, and Core Dance, ensuring audiences can experience the festival in various intimate settings.
This year’s lineup includes:
- Monday, January 27 @ 7 p.m.*: Javelinas (Scott Burland on theremin and Ryan Taylor on guitar/synthesizers) and solo violist Meghan Yost at Eyedrum.
- Tuesday, January 28 @ 7 p.m.: The Atlanta Improvisors Orchestra at Red Light Café.
- Wednesday, January 29 @ 7 p.m.: Chamber Cartel and Benjamin Shirley presenting Seed Tension. Kopleff Recital Hall, GSU
- Thursday, January 30 @ 7 p.m.: neoPhonia New Music Ensemble and the Petrasek Duo. Kopleff Recital Hall, GSU
- Friday, January 31 @ 7 p.m.: Solo percussionist and composer Jeremy Muller alongside Majid Araim performing works from Otherwhere. Kopleff Recital Hall, GSU
- Saturday, February 1 @ 7 p.m.: smol ensemble and Terminus Ensemble featuring saxophonist Jack Thorpe. Kopleff Recital Hall, GSU
- Sunday, February 2 @ 7 p.m.: The Atlanta Contemporary Ensemble at Core Dance.

Since its inception in 2016, SoundNOW has been a testament to the dedication and creativity of Atlanta’s music community.
