DALLAS, Texas— The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2025-26 concert season, marking its 125th anniversary with a lineup that includes major classical works, world premieres, and notable guest artists. Music Director Fabio Luisi will lead the orchestra in seven of the 16 Texas Instruments Classical Series performances throughout the season, including Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, Bruckner’s Symphony No. 9, and a season-ending presentation of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, known as the “Symphony of a Thousand.”
The orchestra will present six world premieres and one U.S. premiere as part of its Texas Instruments Classical Series. Among the new works is a large-scale composition by former Composer-in-Residence Angélica Negrón, written in honor of the orchestra’s milestone season, and pieces by Kathryn Bostic, Jonathan Cziner, and Sophia Jani. The season will also feature the U.S. premiere of Scottish composer Sir James MacMillan’s Concerto for Euphonium and Strings.
Leonidas Kavakos will serve as the orchestra’s Artist-in-Residence, appearing as both a violinist and conductor. Kavakos, whose history with the DSO dates back to 1990, will perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto at the orchestra’s annual gala and lead the orchestra in additional programs throughout the season. Other featured soloists include pianists Emanuel Ax and Hélène Grimaud, soprano Karen Slack, and cellist Jan Vogler, as well as several artists making their DSO debuts.
The orchestra will also present an opera-in-concert performance featuring Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, with a cast that will include a mix of returning and debut artists.
The 2025-26 season will open on October 4, 2025, with a gala concert featuring Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. Subscriptions for the season are available beginning March 13, with single tickets going on sale June 20.
